Dream Rooms

Where magic and healing meet

The essence of Dream Rooms

Our Dreams Rooms transform sterile hospital wards and rooms into nurturing and joyful spaces, providing a much-needed respite and escape for ill children. Designed to be a sanctuary for young patients enduring lengthy hospital stays, these spaces create an atmosphere that nurtures imagination, play, and learning. Each room features whimsical decor and is equipped with a variety of toys, art materials, books and electronic devices like PlayStations and Virtual Reality headsets. They are intended not only to entertain but also to contribute to the children’s emotional and mental well-being by enabling them to experience the magic of childhood, which is often lost to an illness.

Each room is staffed by a resident psychology graduate, who organises various fun and educational activities to ensure that the children not only enjoy themselves but meet their developmental milestones.

Play and Relaxation

A retreat for children to escape the sterile hospital ward and enjoy a variety of fun activities.

Family Time

A safe space that allows children and teens to have some private time with their family and loved ones.

Dream Fulfillment

A comfortable area where Reach For A Dream can assess children and understand their dreams, as well as fulfil the dreams of children who are too ill to leave the hospital.

Virtual Reality in our Dream Rooms

Virtual Reality in our Dream Rooms

With technology constantly evolving, we’ve introduced Virtual Reality (VR) Experiences. This innovation allows us to create new, seemingly impossible dream experiences safely and imaginatively for children in our Dream Rooms while assisting doctors by providing a much-needed distraction during medical treatments.

With support from Eden, a company specialising in hardware, content and platform-based VR solutions, VR provides children who cannot leave the hospital the opportunity to experience and explore magical places such as the beach, Disney World, or even space.

Our impact

Since our first Dream Room in 2017, we have opened 45 Dream Rooms (as of 31 December 2023), each a cherished retreat within hospitals. In 2023 alone, we launched 14 Dream Rooms and reached 80,300 children.

Our success is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our hospital partners and donors. Their unwavering support has been crucial in making each room a reality.
